Joubine Motaharian
Vice President-Consulting
Mr. Motaharian joined AVITAS in January 2025 and serves as Vice President of Consulting. He is responsible for industry consulting, aircraft and market studies, financial analysis, fleet planning, strategy, aircraft values, and risk assessment. He brings 25 years of experience in the aviation industry. His most recent experience includes work as Vice President of Finance at Munich Airport Holdings. He was responsible for corporate finances, accounting, treasury, procurement and the management of Newark’s terminal A operating agreement with the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey.
Prior to Munich Airport Holdings, Mr. Motaharian worked for two years as a Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis at American Leather Holdings establishing a new group that led the PE owned firm’s readiness for a transactional buyout. His initiatives led to an 11.8% growth in EBITDA emerging from operational efficiencies and revenue management.
Before joining American Leather Holdings, Mr. Motaharian worked 12 years at American Airlines (and US Airways) as Managing Director of Finance. Based in the US and UK, he held various roles supporting C-suite with the culmination of $9.3B in opex and capex management across multitude facets of the airline. During his tenure, Mr. Motaharian helped with the development of $1.5B in commercial revenue and cost savings initiatives, was member of the US/AA merger transaction and played a crucial role in post-merger EMEA integration. He assisted the new airline with its ‘airport of the future’ design and associated customer experience, while also supporting the cargo joint business proposal with British Airways. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Motaharian helped implement critical strategies focused on preserving free cash flow, adjusting American Airlines’ regional network capacity and optimizing labor costs.
Prior to the merger with American Airlines, Mr. Motaharian led US Airways’ worldwide airports, cargo, reservations, and customer service finances and was in charge of all Airport Customer Service manpower staffing requirements.
Mr. Motaharian has also held various roles with Continental Airlines and TWA for a period of 10 years serving FP&A and controller group functionalities for several divisions, such as reservations, technical operations and cargo. His responsibilities span from network profitability analyses to managing yearly and five-year operating and capital plans.
Mr. Motaharian graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach with a BS in Aviation Business Administration and earned an MBA in Aviation. He currently serves on the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, College of Business, Business Leadership Board (BLB).
