The AVITAS team is made up of personnel with a broad range of industry experience. Collectively, the group has worked for Commercial Airlines, Aerospace OEMs, Operating Lessors, MROs, and Major Industry Suppliers. Our team have held senior management positions within the aviation industry with disciplines ranging from finance to marketing to operations to maintenance.

The depth of our knowledge is unsurpassed in the aviation consulting environment and thus represents our largest differentiator from other consultancies. We are solutions based in our approach and have found that there is no substitute for industry experience.

Douglas B. Kelly

CEO

Doug joined AVITAS in 1997 bringing 14 years of aviation experience. Doug is an ISTAT Certified Senior Appraiser.

Adam Pilarski Ph.D.

President

Adam joined AVITAS in 1997 after working as an economist with Douglas Aircraft Company to oversee AVITAS’s valuation and consulting services. Receipent of the prestigious ISTAT Award at ISTAT Americas 2020 and currently serving as an ISTAT board member.

Rikard de Jounge

Senior Vice President – Asset Valuation

Rikard joined AVITAS in 2005 bringing 17 years of experience in business management, aircraft technical sales, flight test and performance analysis. Rikard is an ISTAT Certified Senior Appraiser, Fellow.

Joubine Motaharian

Vice President - Consulting

Mr. Motaharian joined AVITAS in January 2025 and serves as Vice President of Consulting.
He is responsible for industry consulting, aircraft and market studies, financial analysis, fleet planning, strategy, aircraft values, and risk assessment.
He brings 25 years of experience in the aviation industry.

Stuart Rubin

Senior Vice President

Stuart Rubin joined AVITAS in July 2026 as Senior Vice President. Stuart is an ISTAT Certified Senior Appraiser.

Roya Najmabadi

CFO / Director - Spare Parts Valuation

Roya joined AVITAS in 1998, bringing 12 years of experience working in public accounting and as well as private companies, including 8 years as the Controller for a leading architectural firm in Washington, DC.
Roya is also actively involved in asset valuations projects, including Spares Inventory Valuations and leads the spares team at AVITAS.

John Vitale

Senior Advisor and Board Member

Prior to joining AVITAS in 1993, John was with McDonnell Douglas, participating in a broad range of marketing and financing activities. John is an ISTAT Certified Appraiser, a longtime ISTAT board member and past president, and is a member of the Equipment Leasing Association’s Aviation Committee.

Kim Bergin

Director – Asset Valuation

Kim originally joined AVITAS in 1997 and was with the company for ten years before taking on additional roles with a leasing company and another consulting firm. She rejoined AVITAS in 2017.

Kim is a licensed private pilot and is an ISTAT Certified Senior Appraiser.

Martin O’Hanrahan

Director - Asset Valuation

Martin O’Hanrahan joined AVITAS in 2000, having previously held positions at ITA in Paris, the Airclaims Group in London and Qantas in Sydney. He is an ISTAT Certified Senior Appraiser and is currently serving a second term on the ISTAT International Board of Governors (IBG).

Tony Karafiat, CFA, CPA

Director, Asset Valuation

Tony joined AVITAS in 2025, bringing 14 years of finance and accounting experience, including five years at United Airlines supporting the regional and TechOps space. He began his career with five years in public accounting at Deloitte.

Tony is a CPA and a CFA Charterholder.
